How to use a teleprompter app for singing performances
1. Position for Presence
Have the teleprompter close to your eyeline without obscuring your face. A tablet is significantly smaller than a traditional music stand, allowing you to catch your cues while remaining fully visible and connected to the room.
2. Master the Tempo
Rehearse the timing and font size carefully to ensure your teleprompter for singers is keeping up with the tempo of the song. Be aware of adrenaline—musicians sometimes play songs faster live. Practice "nudging" the screen or calibrating for a slightly higher energy level than your solo practice.
3. The "Scan and Sing" Technique
Don't get glued to the screen. Practice reading a line quickly and then looking up to sing it to the audience. This keeps the performance authentic and ensures the technology remains a tool for confidence, not a distraction from the show.
4. Pro-Level Backup Strategy
For truly critical shows, consider having a second tablet handy and make sure you have backed up your song and setlist data just in case! A discreet paper setlist and some memory jogger lines of that new song at the foot of your monitor does no harm too!
Own the stage with total lyrical confidence.
